Hertz Car Hire Excess Reduction

If you are hiring a car with Hertz, we can offer you affordable car hire excess insurance which will protect you against any excess charges you may incur from the rental company if your hire car is damaged or stolen.

How does Hertz’ own car hire insurance work?

With your Hertz car rental in Ireland, the following insurance is included in your rate:

  • checkThird Party Liability insurance (TPLI)

  • checkCollision Damage Waiver (CDW)

  • checkTheft Protection (TP)

Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection are often included in the rental rate but are subject to an excess amount. This is the amount you are liable for in the event your hire car is damaged or stolen. Hertz excess charges can range from €1,600 to €5,000 depending on the location and the type of car rented.

What Excess Reduction Options are available direct from Hertz?

Hertz offer a selection of excess waiver products which can reduce or eliminate your financial liability to the excess amounts. These can only be purchased at the rental desk at the time of pick up and cannot be purchased online beforehand.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - If CDW is not included in the rental rate, you can purchase this separately. It reduces your financial liability to the excess amount that is stated on the rental agreement.

Theft Protection (TP) - If TP is not included in your rental rate, you can purchase this separately. It reduces your financial liability to the excess amount that is stated on the rental agreement.

Super Cover - Reduces your excess to zero, eliminating your potential liability in the event your hire car is damaged or stolen. This can cost between €19.30 and €34.05 per day for an Irish rental.

Super Cover and Comfort Pack - Reduces your excess to zero for damage and theft to the hire car. This also includes cover for wheels and tyres. Rates start from €22.00 per day.
