Avis Car Hire Excess Reduction

At iCarhireinsurance.ie, we offer residents of the Republic of Ireland car hire excess insurance if you are renting a car with Avis. We can reimburse you in the event the rental company charges you an excess fee for the damage or theft of your hired vehicle.

How does Avis insurance work?

When renting a car in Ireland with Avis, the following insurance is included as your basic cover:

  • checkCollision Damage Waiver (CDW)

  • checkVehicle Theft Cover

  • checkThird-party insurance

However, if your hire car is damaged or stolen, you are liable to pay the fixed excess amount.

Additional cover such as Personal Accident insurance and Excess Reduction are optional coverage options which you can select when picking up your hire car. Personal Accident insurance covers you in the event injury or death occurs to the main driver. Excess Reduction reduces the excess amount to zero if the car is damaged or stolen.

What are the Avis Excess Reduction charges?

Avis offers the following Excess Reduction product which will reduce your excess amount to zero.

  • checkSuper Collision Damage Waiver (Super CDW) reduces the excess amount for damage and theft to zero. The cost for Super CDW starts at €19.50 Euros per day and can cost up to €28.00 Euros per day depending on the car group.

It covers damage to tyres but does not cover windscreen damage or loss of keys. Windscreen protection can be purchased separately, however this will cost €4.00 Euros per day.
